In our store you’ll discover a selection of styles that will rival most men’s specialty and department stores in regular sizes. Suits, Sport Coats and Tuxedoes Our exclusive custom extra short size is the only collection of its kind for men under 5’5”. We call it our “special” short size if you’re not comfortable with wearing an extra short size. In our store you will discover a selection in our “special” short sizes that rival other men’s specialty and department stores in their regular sizes. Not only is our selection bigger and better, but you’ll also find an extensive selection of available sizes. We carry our exclusive “special” short model from 34 extra short to 48 extra short including odd sizes to 43. Our coats are scaled down in almost every detail to fit a man under 5’5”. You’ll notice the difference when you try on a short size coat with the sleeves and coat bottom shortened and compare it to our exclusive custom extra short size. An overly altered coat of any size will eventually become out of proportion and distort a person’s visual perception of you. For a shorter man, that only makes you look shorter. If we don’t have what you need, Jimmy can special order his custom model in a portly or athletic extra short size. In addition to this we also carry a traditional short size model in sizes 34 short to 50 short including odd sizes to 43. Brands include Jack Victor, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, DKNY, and Michael Kors (coming soon… Kenneth Cole and Henry Grethel) Dress Slacks and Suit Trousers Our exclusive custom short rise slacks are also only available in our private collection. The rise refers to the distance between the waistband and the crotch on the trousers. Shorter men find it uncomfortable and unflattering to wear a regular rise pant either because the crotch sits too low when worn at the waist or the pants won’t lay right unless the waistband is worn at the stomach. And to make matters worse, the pant leg is too full for a shorter man, leaving him with a baggy seat and/or the trouser bottoms swallowing your shoes. Dress slacks with a lower rise are usually referred to as a short rise or a low-rise model. Most people will interchange the two terms. We prefer to call our trousers a “short rise” model because our design is meant to fit at the waist. Some “low rise” models were designed to fit at the hip on a taller man. Not quite the fit a shorter man would want. What you’ll discover most enjoyable about our dress slacks and suit trousers is that the same design philosophy has been applied here, too. The proportions have been scaled down to fit a shorter man. Our dress slacks and trousers are designed with a better-proportioned seat and thigh and a slimmer leg. Details include more shallow pockets and a shorter zipper. Our attention to detail will give you a taller and leaner look. We have dress slacks designed in double pleated and plain front models. You will find an extensive selection of colors and fabrics from waist sizes 26w to 46w in a short rise including odd sizes to 35w. It may be the best-fitting short rise trouser currently available. Brands include Jack Victor, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren and Chiari. Dress Shirts and Sport Shirts Our exclusive collection of dress and sport shirts has a fit most of our clients find better than a custom made shirt. Again, Jimmy’s design philosophy takes center stage. The shirt is proportioned down to every detail. You won’t look like a flying squirrel in this shirt. Most shirts are too full for a shorter man. The pocket is too big and placed too low. Tucking in your shirt is uncomfortable because the shirttail is longer than your pant crotch line. On Jimmy’s model the shirts sleeves and shirttail are shorter, while the trim of the body and armhole has also been proportionately reduced. Details include a smaller pocket placed higher on the chest and a smaller placket on the arm. The collar height and spread have also been corrected to fit a shorter neck. Surprisingly, such attention to detail is often missed or ignored by many custom shirt shops. Jimmy would know because he used to be in the business. Our shirts in a 30/31-sleeve length come in neck sizes 14 to 16 ½. Our shirts also come in a 32-sleeve length in neck sizes 14 ½ to 17 ½. And our 33-sleeve length shirts come in neck sizes 15 to 19. You’ll find our sport shirts with similar proportions with some measurements made ¼” larger to give it a more casual feel and sportier look. This includes our new camp shirt collection in 100% silk and silk/linen blends. They all come in sizes XS-short to 2XL-short. We carry our own brand shirts designed and developed by Jimmy Au. No other shirt manufacturers carry our sizes in the fit you want. Leather Blazers and Jackets Our leather collection has become the hottest item in our store. Using his “special” short coat model, Jimmy has designed a collection of leather jackets that may be the largest in the U.S. for shorter men. Styles include a hipster by Kenneth Cole, bomber and blazers by Remy leather, Jimmy’s own reversible suede sided jacket, shirt jacket and future motorcycle jacket and ¾ length jacket. The same detailed attention to a slimmer fit, shorter coat and shorter sleeves has gone into the design of his jackets.
