.....Jimmy Au is passionate about giving shorter men the chance to wear tailored clothing that fits properly with a sense of style. He noticed that men under 5’5” were not given the option to wear great fashion and also have it fit right. Today’s fashion seemingly catered only to a taller man. A shorter man wearing most of today’s styles would only make himself look shorter. Being only 5’3”, Jimmy saw a need to develop a solution to this problem. His unique design philosophy was complex in its achievement but simple in its solution. What seemed like an easy task had proven to be difficult one; namely because before Jimmy, it had yet to be done. His years of painstaking development and refinement have given men under 5’5” an option to choose a more fashionable garment without sacrificing any more of his height. Jimmy’s solution to the problem was simple… combine fashion and function to support the shorter man.

.....The function of Jimmy’s design philosophy can easily be broken into two parts: proportion and perception. In its early development, perception was not part of his equation. Jimmy just needed to design a suit coat and pants that simply fit a man under 5’5” properly. Here lies the first secret of his design; develop the right proportion for the coat and pants and their relation to each other. Jimmy reworked the proportion of the coat from head to waist and the pants from waist to foot. This led to maximizing mobility without sacrificing the visual integrity of the garment and have it fit a man under 5’5”.

.....In its later development, the next part of Jimmy’s design was to increase height perception. By testing various combinations of design details on the coat and pants and their relation to each other, he was able to find a range of measurements that increased the visual perception of height. His unique measurements eventually led to a complete suit where the coat and pants made a shorter man look taller. This becomes the foundation for what has now evolved into a complete collection of tailored men’s wear. The next step was to move beyond traditional basics into the sophisticated world of fashion.

.....Jimmy offers what most men of ANY height would want…fashion. The logical step was to choose only the fabrics, patterns and colors that flatter a shorter man. Not all elements of a current fashion trend flatter every body type. Fabrics needed to have supple weaves with good resilience and luxurious drape to flatter a shorter man. Dense and unforgiving fabrics were avoided. He would take it a step further and choose only understated or subdued patterns with rich colors blended in subtle hues. This would give a shorter man detail that could be appreciated up close without looking short or stocky from a distance. All this adds up to a garment that is truly unique and desirable.
